conclusion
Did I reach my goal? Yes, I'd have to say I most certainly did. And in reaching my goal I've discovered that I not only enjoy 3D modeling but that I could build a career for myself using BRYCE. I don't think I am done learning all there is to learn about BRYCE, that will take a lot more time and effort. But at least I know I do enjoy the process. And also I now know what BRYCE is like, how to use it, and what I dislike about it. Knowing these things gives me a good head start toward planning my future.
Wine glass
Using BRYCE spheres I now know how to make a chipped wine glass. You must first make a sphere and put a glass like texture on it. Then taking another sphere making it negative (so whereever it is it takes away) on the top of the first sphere, giving it the look that it is a glass bowl. You then take a cylinder shape and a disc shape putting them on the bottom to give it a full effect of a wine glass. Now to make it a chipped wine glass, you must take a triangular shape, shrink it down to size and giving it a negative effect sticking it on the edge of the wine glass. Then you push the render button (a scanning process that makes the image more clear) and viola, you have a chipped wine glass.
Google Me
I'd have to say the best project I have ever seen done on BRYCE is a picture depicting a bunch of knarled smashed cages on a dark island. I can see a volcano in the background giving the dusk sky a reddish look, the water reflecting the sharp jagged pieces of the cage and the red sky. I never actually figured out who the artist was. Such an excellent advanced piece of artwork. I actually found it on a link from someones blog on a google search. I guess he did what I'm doing right now. So if anyone looks for BRYCE on a google search, maybe they will read my blog.
making muscle
When I was learning BRYCE I asked my mentor about how to make moving body parts, such as an arm bending, someone flexing their muscle, or simply a person walking. I thought it would be very easy - making the object and getting it to another place. Oh boy was I wrong! You actually have to (using BRYCE) make every individual bone, muscle, and tendon - THEN, you put a layer of skin over the top, then when you move it, you have to make the muscle of tendon constrict making it look like a person is walking. Hey - I guess BRYCE is more life like than I thought.
practice
When I first started working with BRYCE, it was hard to get the hang of the movement of the objects. They have knobs for every angle you can possibly think of. Not only that, they also have a button for zooming in and out. There is also a button for turning and rotating an object at any angle. I guess BRYCE is just a learned talent you get through practice practice practice.
ideas ideas ideas
Can I take pictures off the internet and turn them into my digital ideas? Is there a shortcut that I don't know about yet? Maybe I can make the shortcut - ideas ideas ideas. There is so much to learn about and it has been fun to play with one program. I wonder if I played with another one if I'd like it better. Maybe learning about art and drawing would help me with the BRYCE program. All because of my make a goal class.:)
Hammer
If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning. Just kidding.
Some of the other 3D animation programs don't have the ability to be uploaded on Final Cut or Premier, unless I take it to another program like Flash - at least I think so. What would be cool is to be good enough to work on some of my dad's films - he is in a digital media class at UVU. Learning BRYCE is helping me to figure out if this is an area I want to pursue.

M.O.M.
I share a room with three brothers. So, four boys in a room. We are boys... sort of messy, sometimes stinky. All in all we are happy. I want to develop a program or a robot that will help keep our room organized. I think it should be called M.O.M. Actually, my mom thinks that will be a good name. I think it would be a great idea, it (maybe a robot or something) can pick up our clothes, close our dresser drawers, make our beds - your general tidying and cleaning. I wouldn't ask it to do my homework or anything like that - wait a minute... that would be awesome! The computer program BRYCE does amazing things. Maybe I can come up with an amazing idea of my own too.
My future with BRYCE
A couple of days after I discovered BRYCE I thought about what it would be like to have a career in this field. I think it would be kind of neat having a job like this. Having the opportunity to stretch your imagination, making your ideas into realities. But as I thought about it, would someone actually pay me to play with BRYCE all day? I certainly hope so. It is a lot of fun.
The sky's the limit
When I first started BRYCE, I found the easiest thing to start with was a simple sphere. And then experiment with textures, sizes and angles. After experimenting with the textures a little bit I formed the sphere into an oval like shape. After that I put a cloud texture on it - henceforth making the sphere look like a cloud. I didn't know how to make trees that well, so I thought I'd throw a tree in the picture. I made a normal sized tree with a bunch of reddish type leaves and planted it in the middle of the cloud. After that my mind started going wild with ideas. I thought, what if I put lightning under it, or what if I put the cloud above an ocean? But, I was just beginning and didn't know how to do any of those things at the time. But, the sky's the limit with BRYCE.
Description of Emerald Island
Coming up with the idea of this one was a little tricky. I didn't just keep adding and adding it on like I did with Serenity City. I spent near 30 minutes of adding and deleting stuff. Until finally I came up with the idea of making and island of Emerald. I didnt' want this to be an ordinary island, I wanted the trees, land and water to be emerald. After playing around with BRYCE a little bit I tried putting the trees a little bit under the emerald so you could see the emerald roots intertwined with a giant emerald rock. After about three days of working on it a bit, it was finished - Emerald Island.
My description of Serenity City
As I was creating this project, it originally started out as just a saucer. But slowly and gradually I added more and more on to it. In fact, I may have over done it a bit. After I created the shapes I wanted a really cool texture to go on it. While searching for a texture I found a cool bluish microchip texture. For the beams and orbs of light you see I simply took shapes and added an atmospheric texture. Coming up with the name would have to be the hardest thing, I'd say. After about 15 or 20 minutes of asking other people what they thought, it finally hit me - Serenity City.
My thoughts on BRYCE
While learning to use BRYCE I not only figured out how high tech and cool it was, I also figured out how easy it was to use. Using BRYCE, you can make a very wide variety of things. You can make stuff like landscapes, roaring volcanoes, even fish swimming in the sea. Previously I have interviewed my mentor and his thought on BRYCE concluded that BRYCE would be around for a long time. He not only said it would be around for a long time, he also said it is one of the best programs out there. As I started to get familiar with BRYCE and it's software, I figured out that the things my mentor told me were true for me too.
